In Honduras, the innocence of childhood is often overshadowed by hardship. Honduras is among the most violent countries in the world. Children and youth under eighteen account for 15.9% of homicide victims. Large numbers of young people are subjected to sexual exploitation, with alarmingly high rates of sexual abuse and teenage pregnancy. One in two girls reports having experienced sexual violence. Beyond violence and exploitation, many children and adolescents in Honduras face severe food insecurity. With 73.6% of the population living in poverty, families often lack the resources to afford adequate nutrition. As a result, large numbers of children suffer from chronic malnutrition, preventable diseases, stunted growth, and anemia. Safe drinking water is also a critical challenge, particularly in rural areas, where 81% of households lack access to clean water.
The daily reality for Honduran children and youth is marked by hardships and insecurities far greater than those experienced by many of their peers around the world. They often go to bed hungry, drink contaminated water that makes them sick, and live with the constant fear of violence, exploitation, or death. Instead of enjoying a carefree childhood, they worry: Will I be safe tomorrow? Will I be forced into something against my will? Will I live to see another year? To compound these challenges, many lack the protective presence of their parents at home. 43% of children in Honduras do not live with their parents.

What is the Home of Miracles?
The Home of Miracles is a safe home where children and youth can live – whether they need a place to stay short-term or long-term. Currently, we have a house in the heart of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where we can accept and provide safe and secure living conditions for ten children.
What is the mission of the Home of Miracles?
Our mission is to offer a refuge for children facing hardships throughout the nation of Honduras – a loving and secure place where they can grow, heal, be nurtured, be restored, further their studies, and experience the love of Jesus.

Who is going to live in the Home of Miracles?
Children and youth who are orphans, have been abandoned by their families, whose parents are in jail, or who are living in dangerous and heartbreaking situations.
Who is going to oversee Home of Miracles?
For some time now, Josue and Mikayla, members of the Love Honduras team, have carried a vision in their hearts to take our children’s ministry to a new level. God has called them to rescue vulnerable children across Honduras, children who have been abandoned by their parents, or who are growing up in dangerous and heartbreaking circumstances. They will be living in the Home of Miracles, along with their son Thiago, and overseeing the ministry.

How can you help?
For $6.50 a day or $200 per month, we can provide all the basic needs of one child – food, clean water, education, school supplies, medical needs, clothes, toiletries, and a bed to sleep in. It will also help us provide activities, toys, and outings much needed in the life of a child.
Aside from the monthly budget, there is a one-time fee of $300 per child to legally receive them into the Home of Miracles and become their guardians.
