Our Team - Love Honduras

PASTOR MICHELLE JOHNS

Founder of Love Honduras

I have been in full-time ministry for more than thirty years. When I was a teenager God spoke to me about being a missionary and preaching the Gospel in unreached and hard places. I have preached the Gospel in more than twenty nations in Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America. I have been working in Honduras for more than twelve years. I began working in Honduras by annually bringing missions teams to serve. After three years of bringing teams, God opened the door for me to work in a remote and unreached area called Montana De La Flor, home of one of the indigenous people groups of Honduras. Then, during the pandemic, two hurricanes hit Honduras in the same month and devastated the country.  At that time God opened the door for me to go to Honduras and begin to pioneer Love Honduras.  With the help of Feed the Hungry, in two years we started sixteen programs feeding approximately 1,500 children every month.  We also helped establish a Global Roar Bible School and began to work with Pasion Por Las Almas assisting with church planting.  Love Honduras also hosts missions teams. The ministry works in the red-light district, the garbage dumps, and prisons.  We hold children’s programs in schools and neighborhoods throughout Honduras and minister in churches all over the nation.  We have also begun pioneering in the rainforest district of Honduras, La Mosquitia.  My dream for Honduras is to reach every indigenous people group in the nation with the love of Jesus and help raise up a strong army of believers that will take the nation for Jesus.

I also help pastor the Buffalo Dream Center, in Buffalo New York with my husband Eric Johns.  We have been married and served in full-time ministry together for more than thirty years. We have five children who are all serving the Lord in full-time ministry and eleven grandchildren.

HECTOR PAVON

I began working with the staff of Love Honduras approximately twelve years ago as a bus driver for teams.  When Love Honduras started going to Montana De La Flor, I not only drove for the teams, but I also organized and led the other drivers. During the pandemic, when Love Honduras grew rapidly and expanded its ministry in Montana De La Flor and other parts of Honduras, I began to work full-time for the ministry.

Presently my responsibilities include overseeing the sixteen feeding programs sponsored by Love Honduras and helping organize and lead missions teams that minister all over the nation.  When there are no teams in Honduras, I travel with the leadership team of Love Honduras.  We minister in the red-light district, the garbage dumps,  the prisons, the slums of Tegucigalpa, and in churches throughout the nation of Honduras.  I am also involved in the prison ministry at Pasion Por Las Almas, my home church. In July of 2022, I graduated from the Global Roar Bible School. My vision and passion is to serve as a missionary and preach the Gospel in many other nations.

JOSUÉ & MIKAYLA LOPEZ

Josué and Mikayla are full-time missionaries to Central America. Mikayla is Pastor Eric and Michelle Johns’ daughter, and Josué is a young man from a very small town in Guatemala. When Mikayla was eighteen-years-old she went to Guatemala all by herself to learn Spanish. She worked as a full-time missionary in Guatemala for three years. She and Josué met each other while they were both volunteers at the same ministry.

In 2020, when Love Honduras Ministries was just getting started, Mikayla and Josué went to Honduras with Pastor Michelle to help her pioneer the ministry. Nobody knew how big the ministry was going to become in such a short amount of time. As this team was going around preaching the Gospel, laying hands on the sick, and showing the love of Jesus to others the ministry quickly began to grow and expand. Doors of favor started to open for Love Honduras. Now, the ministry has become more established in the nation of Honduras and many churches from all over North America and Central America come to do short-term mission trips with Love Honduras. Mikayla and Josué are in charge of getting the mission house ready for the teams when they arrive. They help lead the missionary groups while they are out ministering and sharing the Gospel. Mikayla is an interpreter and interprets for all the teams that travel to Honduras. Josue is an interpreter in the making.

Although they love working with teams, their main passion is reaching out to the next generation, the children and the youth of Central America. Children’s ministry is a vital part of what Love Honduras does. Mikayla and Josué oversee and organize all the Kidz Club programs, and youth evangelism wherever the ministry goes. They work with the children in La Montaña de la Flor, in the garbage dumps, in poor neighborhoods, in the streets, in La Moskitia, in other small towns throughout Honduras. They also work in other countries in Central America. Children and their families everywhere are hearing the Gospel, being set free, receiving healing in their bodies, and experiencing the love of Jesus because of Kidz Club!

Their vision for the children and youth in Honduras does not stop at Kidz Club. God has also given them a big vision to start a home for the children that need to be rescued from dangerous situations. While they are waiting for that vision to come to pass, they both work full-time with Love Honduras. Although the ministry is more established than before there is still much pioneering and hard work to be done. When there are no missionary groups, Josué and Mikayla continue to reach the children and minister throughout the nation. They go to the red-light district to minister to the prostitutes and addicts and also to the families living in the garbage dumps. Josue and Mikayla also spend time preaching in different churches throughout the nation.

BRAYAN CORDON

I am twenty years old and I am from Guatemala. For many years I was addicted to drugs. I was struggling with depression so bad that I wanted to end my life. One night I went to a campfire outreach at a church. At that campfire I gave my life to Jesus.  In 2019 Pastor Eric and Michelle  invited me on a mission trip to Honduras. Now I am a full-time missionary working with Love Honduras.  I love working in La Montaña de La Flor and La Mosquitia. I am most passionate about seeing how Jesus transforms people in places like the red-light district, the garbage dumps, and in the streets. With Love Honduras, we see God do extraordinary things in the lives of broken people. As I work with the ministry, I am also studying in the Global Roar Bible School. My vision and passion is to see the love of Jesus expand all over the world.

EDUARDO RUZ

I am a full-time missionary with Love Honduras. I am so happy and thankful to God for being able to be part of Pastor Michelle’s team. God chose me to start serving Him at a very young age.  The call on my life to be a missionary started later when I was studying at the Global Roar Bible School. That is when God spoke to me and gave me the opportunity to do missions with Love Honduras. Now I get to preach the Gospel in many different places. We preach in the streets, in prisons, on the mountain, and in La Mosquitia. Personally, I think the most powerful thing we do is reaching the children and youth with the love of Jesus.

NADYA AREVALO

My name is Nadya and I am from Guatemala.   My desire to be a missionary started when the pastor of my church asked my dad to plant a church in a community called Los Conacastes.  I helped my father by serving in the church plant in various areas of ministry. Then in 2023, after going on a few mission trips and serving as an intern with Love Honduras, I joined the team as a full-time missionary. Being a missionary has given me opportunities that I never thought I would have. At Love Honduras, we love and serve people so that they can get to know who Jesus is. There are a lot of things that I like to do but there are three things that I especially love and are very close to my heart. First I love working with the children through Kidz Club. When we arrive somewhere to do a children’s program I see that some of the children are sad and afraid. When we start the children’s program, It fills my heart to see them have fun, smile, and get touched by Jesus.  Second of all, I love street ministry. Seeing so many people living in the street, trapped in the bondage of sin breaks my heart. I am thankful that Jesus has given me the opportunity to love on these people and see some of them restored. Without Jesus, their lifestyle leads them to death, but we know that God has something prepared for them. Through street ministry, God has taught me to love the unloved. Third of all Montana De La Flor is a place that has impacted my life. It breaks my heart to see the way people in the mountain live, with no walls and a bed made out of sticks. The people of the mountain are always smiling even though they face a lot of hardships. They always remind me to be thankful for everything I have.

I am thankful to God for the opportunity I have to serve Him as a missionary in this season of my life.
